Jacques Cloutier

Jacques Cloutier ( born January 3, 1960 in Rouyn -Noranda, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender and current coach, who in his active years from 1976 to 1994 among others for the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks and Quebec Nordiques in the National Hockey League has played.

Career

Jacques Cloutier began his career as a hockey player with the Trois- Rivières, where he was active from 1976 to 1980 in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL. With the Draveurs he won here in 1978 and 1979 respectively, the Coupe du Président and was chosen in these two seasons also each in the All-Star team in the league. During his time in Trois- Rivières the goalie in the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in 1979 in the third round as the 55th overall player of the Buffalo Sabres. For the Buffalo Sabres, he played from 1980 to 1989 as well as in the National Hockey League, as parallel for their farm team, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League. With Rochester he won in the 1982/83 season the Calder Cup.

On 28 September 1989 Cloutier was released along with a fifth- round option for the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 in exchange for Steve Ludzik and a sixth- round vote for the same Draft to the Chicago Blackhawks. For the team from Illinois Canadians graduated in the following one and a half years a total of 57 games in the NHL. Subsequently, he was transferred in January 1991 in exchange for Tony McKegney to the Quebec Nordiques. When the Nordiques he ended following the 1993/94 season, his career at the age of 34 years. Immediately thereafter, he became an assistant coach at Quebec's AHL farm team Cornwall Aces. In this position he worked until 1996 and then he worked in the same position with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, the successor to the Quebec Nordiques Team. For the Avalanche, with whom he was a member of the coaching staff won the Stanley Cup in the 2000 /01 season, he was active until June 2009. Then, his contract was not renewed. In May 2011, Cloutier was committed by the ZSC Lions as an assistant coach.

On the occasion of the Heroes of Hockey Game, which took place as part of the NHL All- Star Games, in 2001 he packed once the skates.
