Jacques Freitag

Jacques Freitag ( born June 11, 1982 in Warrenton ) is a South African athlete.

The 2.04 meter high jumper ( Competition Weight: 83 kg) had a steep rise since the beginning of his career. He won at the 1999 World Junior Championships with 2.16m, 2000, the Junior World Championships with 2.24m and finally at the 2003 Senior World Championships in Paris with 2.34 m.

His personal best is 2.38 meters, set in 2005. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he could not intervene in the medal fight due to injury. He was 13th with 2.20 m. However, this was his only competition in the outdoor season 2004.

In 2006, he reached a Jahresbestleistung of 2.24 m, 2007, he did not go beyond a competitive result of 2.15 m.

The mother of Jacques Friday in 1973 South African national champion in the high jump. His compatriot Hestrie Cloete won the high jump competition at the 2003 World Championships in the women.
