Jacques Lataste

Jacques Lataste ( born June 7, 1922 in La Grand -Combe ) is a former French fencer, who won two Olympic gold medals and two world titles.

At the 1948 Olympic Games in London, the French foil team with André Bonin, René Bougnol, Jehan Buhan, Jacques Lataste, Christian d' Oriola and Adrien Rommel won the gold medal ahead of the Italians, in the single won Buhan Christian d' Oriola before. In the World Fencing Championship in 1949, the Italians and won gold retaliated against the French with Lataste, 1950 in Monte Carlo repeated itself this result, in individual competition was won Lataste bronze. In the World Fencing Championships 1951 in Stockholm France with René Bougnol, Jehan Buhan, Christian d' Oriola, Jacques Lataste, Claude Cute and Adrien Rommel won ahead of the Italians.

Also at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki won the French team, along with Jehan Buhan, Claude Netter, Jacques Noël, Christian d' Oriola and Adrien Rommel won Lataste in the team competition and won his second Olympic gold medal in the individual competition he reached the fourth place. At the 1953 World Fencing Championships in Brussels Lataste won his second team gold at the World Championships along with Claude Bancilhon, Christian d' Oriola, Claude Netter, Jacques Noel and Adrien Rommel. 1954 did not belong to Lataste French team, 1955 was the team a medal in the individual competition after 1950 again won Lataste bronze. His last major international appearance was Lataste at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. He said goodbye with a seventh place in the individual competition and the silver medal in the team competition.
