Jacques-Philippe Le Bas

Jacques- Philippe Le Bas or Lebas (* 1707, † 1783 in Paris) was a French engraver of the Rococo.

Life

Le Bas was a pupil of the engraver and illustrator Antoine Herisset (1685-1769) in Paris, due to its architectural views ( Palace of Versailles ) and maps ( Forêt de Fontainebleau ) was known at that time. He stabbed at foreign templates; in his time were engravings after masterpieces of art history very popular and a coveted collector's item. From Le Bas over 500 stitches are known.
