Jacques Pollet

Jacques Pollet ( born July 2, 1922 in Roubaix, † August 16, 1997 in Paris) was a French racing driver.

Jacques Pollet, for the Gordini denied in 1953 not counting for the World Cup Formula 1 race at Chimay, 1954 was a test driver of the French racing team. In 1954 he made ​​his debut in the World Cup. But both at the race in France as well as at the event in Spain, he retired after an engine failure prematurely.

After finishing sixth in the Grand Prix of Bordeaux and in third place in Caen ( he had, however, to share with Jean Behra ) he had a serious and momentous accident in Chimay. Pollet was leading the race when an up stone damaged his glasses and he fell back. In the subsequent chase he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a group of spectators. Two spectators died in the fatal accident. At Le Mans he was ³ the same year, together with André Guelfi sixth in the overall standings and thereby won the class to 3000 cm.

In 1955 he drove the Gordini Type 16 in three other Formula 1 World Championship races. The seventh rank in Monaco was doing his best result.

In 1954, he won the Tour de France for automobiles and has been on a Mercedes Benz 300S eighth at the Mille Miglia.
