Jacques Rouvier

Jacques Rouvier ( born January 18, 1947 in Marseille ) is a French pianist.

Rouvier studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Vlado Perlemuter, Pierre Sancan, Jean Fassina and Jean Hubeau. He received first prizes in piano (1965 ) and Chamber Music ( 1967).

In 1969 he founded a piano trio with violinist Serge Garcia, the 1970 Jean -Jacques Kantorow succeeded, and cellist Philippe Muller. Since 1979 he has been professor of piano at the Conservatoire de Paris, next he gave master classes and Others in Montreal and Vancouver, in Nice and at the Maurice Ravel Academy in Saint -Jean -de- Luz. His students include Arcadi Volodos and Hélène Grimaud.

Rouvier many awards include the Viotti Prize, the Maria Canals price and the Marguerite Long -Jacques Thibaud prize. For his recording of the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel, he was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque.
