Jacques Santer

Jacques Santer ( born May 18, 1937 in Cheap water ) is a Luxembourgian politician of the Christian Social People's Party as well as honorary Minister of State of Luxembourg.

Luxembourg policy

After a cabinet reshuffle on September 19, 1972 Jacques Santer joined by June 15, 1974 as Secretary of State in the Government Werner - Schaus one. In 1974 he was elected party president of the Christian Social People's Party. He held that post until 1982. On 16 July 1979 he was sworn in as finance and labor and social affairs minister in the government Werner - Thorn. On July 20, 1984, he became prime minister and finance minister. In 1989 he gave the Minister of Finance and Treasury Minister and Minister was of Cultural Affairs ( until January 1995).

International offices

He was also a 1984-1989 member of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and from 1991 to 1994 Governor of the International Monetary Fund.
