Jacques Sylla

Jacques Sylla ( born July 22, 1946, the island of Sainte Marie, † 26 December, 2009 Antananarivo ) was Prime Minister of Madagascar.

Life

Jacques Sylla was the son of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar Albert Sylla, who worked in the 1960s under then- President Philibert Tsiranana. He himself was a trained commercial lawyer and had the Malagasy and French citizenship.

Jacques Sylla held the post of Prime Minister from February 2002 to January 2007 under President Marc Ravalomanana. He was in the government under Albert Zafy 1993-1996 already foreign minister. After the 2002 crisis in Madagascar, he was a year later, a group of donors ( "Friends of Madagascar " ) motivate you to go with his government in negotiations. This group consisted mainly of World Bank, EU and the UN Development Programme. On 19 January 2007, he resigned from the post of prime minister. His successor was Charles Rabemananjara.

From 2007 to 2009 he held the office of President of the National Assembly of Madagascar.
