Jacques Zegers

Jacques Zegers ( born June 25, 1947 in Brussels ) is a Belgian French-speaking singer, writer, songwriter, actor and journalist.

Biography

Zegers was born the son of a Belgian and a Frenchman. At 16 he had his first minor success as a cabaret singer, in the following years he took part in various international singing competitions. In 1983 he became known for his release of the single pour elle a wider audience. In the same year he recorded the song LA en Olimpie that should be the official Belgian anthem at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In 1984 he took part in the Belgian decider for Euro Vision Song Contest, which by the Walloon television station RTBF under the title Concours de la chanson Euro vision - was organized national final. With the song Avanti la vie, to which he himself had written the text, he was able to prevail against the other nine candidates. At the competition itself in Luxembourg, he reached the fifth place among 19 participants. In the same year he published his next single in 1001 amis. In addition, he wrote lyrics to children's songs by Henri Seroka.

Other activities

Zegers has worked throughout his musical career as a journalist, he practices the profession until today. The mid-1980s, he was also the head of advertising weeklies Le marché De and market. In addition, the author of several books of poetry and the novel Le nœud au mouchoir. From 1987, he participated in several theater productions, including with the troops Copains d' secondment.
