Jaden Smith
Jaden Christopher Syre Smith ( born July 8, 1998, Malibu, California, according to other sources in Los Angeles ) is an American actor and rapper. He was known in particular for his role as Christopher in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness, where he played alongside his father Will Smith, as well as in that of Dre Parker in The Karate Kid.
Life
Jaden Smith was born in July 1998 in Los Angeles, California, the son of actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. In addition, he is the brother of singer Willow Smith and the half-brother of Trey Smith. He got home schooling and attended the New Village Leadership Academy in Calabasas, which was co-founded by his parents. His acting debut was in the UPN sitcom All of Us, where he took over the role of Reggie for six episodes. Previously, he had been in the movie Men in Black II a brief cameo appearance with his half-brother Trey. In 2006, he starred in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness to his father's side, the son of his character. For this role he won the award for Best Newcomer at the MTV Movie Awards 2007. At the Academy Awards in 2007, he presented along with Abigail Breslin, the awards for the Best Animated Short and Best Short Film. His next role was in 2008 in Scott Smith Derricksons science fiction film The Day the Earth Stood Still, which is a remake of the same film from the year 1951.
In Harald Zwarts martial arts film The Karate Kid, he starred alongside Jackie Chan one of the main roles. For this he won the 2011 Young Artist Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture. In 2013 he was seen as Kitai Raige in the science fiction film After Earth alongside his father. For his performance in this film he was in 2014 awarded the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actor. He received another award with his father in the category Worst Screen Couple.
