Jagdschloss (Radar)

FuMG404 hunting lodge was a German panorama or "Panorama " radar for air location centers of the Air Force at the end of the Second World War. Developed from 1937 by GEMA, it was made from 1943 by Siemens. Built to a total of 62 pieces. The designer and developer was Theodor Schultes ( 1901-1981 ).

  • The radars FuMG404 " hunting lodge " and " hunting house" served to capture all air threats ( friend and foe ) in the swept airspace. By switching from location identifier on foreign targets and interference from chaff could be hidden.
  • The variant FuMG 405 " hunting lodge " had only the transmitter and a receiving antenna for the identification generator "first " and served only the leadership of their own fighters.

The system was designed so that all information obtained in the audio field were. Data could so easily via phone or radio (Michael device) is transmitted to an air operations center or an anti-aircraft battery. There they could be displayed on the "star writers " (radar screen today). A height evaluation was not possible; this one needed an additional Würzburg device. The transmitting antenna consisted of 16 unit dipole fields with a total width of 24 m. In the receiving antenna " chamois " for the reception of the FuG - 25a- "first " IFF identification generator was mounted.
