Jaguar XJ

The Jaguar XJ is a car model of the British car manufacturer Jaguar, which is placed in the upper class and represents the top model of the manufacturer. This Series I first generation successor called all previous Jaguar sedans from the 240 was introduced on 26 September 1968 ( better known by its former name Mark 2 ) to the Jaguar Mark X and the last model developed by company founder Sir William Lyons was designed prevail.

The engine range, the XJ - series included the famous XK- line six cylinder and since 1972 the technically demanding V12. From 1986 newly developed AJ6 -six were used in the XJR from 1994 with Roots compressor. In 1997, the era of the six-and twelve-cylinder came to an end, and the modern AJ- V8 found its way back into the most powerful version with compressor. 2003 was added a V6 gasoline engine and the 2005 adopted from the S-Type V6 Diesel.

The design of this model has been largely continuous development of the Series I, without losing sight of the most characteristic features, such as the dual round headlights at the front. Mainly was offered as a four-door notchback sedan with five or four seats, the XJ, only from 1973 to 1977 was also a two-door, C XJ Coupé offered called.

Besides the most available equipment such as Classic, sports or the Executive again more luxurious Daimler Sovereign and Vanden Plas models are available since 1969 or 1972. These are models and gave it mostly in conjunction with the larger engines and the longer wheelbase. Even the interior is usually different from the simple models. Besides, it is the only model of the manufacturer Jaguar, which is offered in a special-protection version.

The Daimler Motor Company offered the Super Eight at a work based on the Jaguar XJ vehicle. Daimler vehicles were refined and were always higher for exclusivity. Orders for the Super Eight were no longer accepted after the takeover by Jaguar's Tata Motors. The extent to Tata Motors intends to reactivate the Daimler brand, is however still unclear.

The new Jaguar XJ ( X351 ) was unveiled on 9 July 2009 by Jaguar Land Rover. The production of cars began in September 2009, with delivery in early 2010. For the design Ian Callum is responsible. The new XJ breaks with many creative Jaguar traditions and its design is described by Jaguar itself in a press release as " far bravest interpretation".
