Jaime Lusinchi

Jaime Lusinchi ( born May 27, 1924 in CLARINES ) was President of Venezuela from 1984 to 1989. He was a member of the Acción Democrática (AD).

The 1980s also apply in Venezuela as the "lost decade." Lusinchi was the Venezuelan economy not exempt from the recession, leaving to his successor Pérez a de facto bankrupt state: A deficit of 9 % of gross domestic product, 35 billion foreign debt, barely currency reserves and 25 % of employees as state employees.
