Jaime Moreno ( 2008)

Jaime Moreno Morales ( born January 19, 1974 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra ) is a former Bolivian footballer. The striker was until the end of the MLS season in 2010 for the U.S. first division DC United active. Subsequently, he was a technical trainer in the youth academy of franchises.

Moreno leads since 22 August 2007, the record scorer in Major League Soccer. On 17 April 2009 he reached another record when he managed to achieve over 100 goals and over 100 templates so far the only MLS player.

Club career

Moreno began his career in his native Bolivia. From 1991 to 1994 he played for first division club Blooming of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. After 57 games, he joined the Colombian club Santa Fe CD.

Then he changed to FC Middlesbrough, by which he became the first Bolivians in the Premier League. In his two years at the Riverside Stadium, he rarely came out on the position of the replacement player.

Subsequently he moved to the end of the 1995/1996 season to DC United in the MLS, the professional league in the United States. In his first six months in Washington, DC Moreno became a regular player and helped his club to victory in the MLS Cup. In 1997 he was voted the best player of the year and was with 16 -goal top scorer in the league. He crowned the season also still with the regained the Cup. In the 1998 season he scored 16 goals again gave an additional eleven assists. For the election of player the year took second place behind his team mate and compatriot Marco Etcheverry. In 1999, he was still able to celebrate another trophy, namely the third Cup victory with his club. The 2001 and 2002 seasons, he missed almost entirely due to various injuries.

At the end of the 2002 season he verstritt with his coach Ray Hudson and spent a year with the league rivals MetroStars. He was only eleven times throughout the year for use and scoring two goals. He scored a hit this just against his former club United.

After that season he returned to D.C. United back. With its new and old club he lined up another cup victory to the list of his titles. In 2005, it a very special honor to part was when he was chosen by selected sports reports in the eleven of the best players of all time in the MLS. In August 2007, he scored his 109th league goal, which he was the best scorer in MLS history, surpassing the record set by Jason Kreis.

On August 21, 2010 DC United and Moreno announced to terminate the collaboration at the end of the season. His last game he completed 23 October 2010 against Toronto FC. In the game, he scored his last goal.

In MLS Re - Entry Draft in December 2010, Moreno was selected by any team. He ended his career and changed on March 4, 2011 in the staff at DC United.

National

With the Bolivian national team Moreno took him 20 years old at the Football World Cup 1994 in part. Three years later he was again by the coach in the squad for a major tournament, the Copa América in 1997, was appointed. Since 2001, Moreno was not nominated for internationals, before he was deployed again in a friendly match in 2007. He was also in the squad for the Copa America 2007 Bolivia, where he scored two goals.

In October 2008, he announced his retirement from the national team. In 75 international matches, he scored nine goals.

  • Moreno lives with his wife, Louise, and the five common children in Washington, DC. His eldest son, James, was invited on 20 October 2010 to a 10-month trial for West Ham United Youth Academy.
