Jair da Costa called Jair, ( born July 9, 1940 in Santo André, Sao Paolo ) is a former Brazilian footballer.

Jair was born in Santo André and raised from the age of nine in Osasco on. He came to the club Portuguesa in São Paulo, there rose in 1960 in the first team and was soon appointed to it in the squad of the Brazilian national football team.

Discovered by an emissary of AC Milan, he was found at the trial in Milan for too delicate. The people in charge of Inter Milan and its president Angelo Moratti thought otherwise and committed Jair 1962. Memorable are his actions on flank of been moved left-back Giacinto Facchetti. Jair was a very modern player and the perfect complement in the storm of the legendary Grande Inter.

For the Brazilian national football team Jair played only once. When victorious for Brazil World Cup 1962 in Chile Jair belonged with the number 18 in the squad, but came - displaced by the legendary Garrincha - in the tournament never used.
