Jair da Rosa Pinto

Jair da Rosa Pinto Jair called ( born March 21, 1921 in Quatis (Rio de Janeiro), † 28 July, 2005 Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian football player.

He completed his first of 39 international matches in 1940 at 1:6 against Argentina, where he managed the only goal for Brazil.

29- year old, he played in the national team's World Cup 1950 in Brazil. He splendidly harmonized with the other two stars of the Brazilians, the Mittelfeldass Zizinho and star striker Ademir. In the final, however, the perfect game faltered, the defeat shocked the entire nation and became known as Maracanaço. After this game, broke the magic triangle of Jair, Zizinho and Ademir. Jair then finished first also his international career, but in 1956 came again to two inserts.

1963 Jair was 42 -year-old announced his retirement from the active business of football known before he Sao Paulo FC, Palmeiras and Ponte Preta had with Santos played. He then coached some of his former teams.

During his time at Santos, he helped the young Edson Arantes do Nascimento, to get into the first team. It was successful and the players became world known as Pele.

On 28 July 2005 Jair died at the age of 84 years to a lung disease.
