Jairo Hernández (cyclist)

Jairo de Jesús Hernández Montoya ( born August 13, 1972) is a former Colombian cyclist.

Sports career

Jairo Hernández 1990 Colombian junior champion in the road race. Five years later he was first overall in the Vuelta a Guatemala. In 1996 he won a stage of the Vuelta a Colombia and in the Vuelta al Tolima. In 1998 he was again successful in a section of the Vuelta a Colombia. Hernández 1999 first overall in the Clásico RCN and a year later he won a stage there.

In the Pan Championships 2001 Hernández champion in the time trial. He also won this year again a stage of the Vuelta a Colombia. In the 2003 season he won going one stage in the Vuelta a Boyaca and at the Vuelta a Santa Deres. A year later, he won two sections at the Vuelta a Colombia and the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides. In the Vuelta de la Paz, he won a stage and so could the Appreciation decide for themselves. He was also once the Clasica de Ciudad Girardort successful. The following year, he won stages in Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides, the Clasica Internacional Marco Fidel Suárez and the Clásico RCN. In 2006, he was successful on a section of the Vuelta al Tolima and so could the Appreciation decide for themselves. In 2007 he drove a season for the Colombian Continental Team Colombia It Pasion. He won a stage at the Clasica de guarne and two stages at the Clasica Internacional Marco Fidel Suárez; then he ended his cycling career.
