Jairo Pérez

Jairo Pérez Suárez ( born March 24, 1973 in Iza ) is a former Colombian track and road racing cyclist.

Jairo Pérez began his career in 1996 at the Colombian cycling team Glacial - Selle Italia. The next year he moved to Lotería de Boyaca. He celebrated his first success in 1999 when Clásico RCN with a stage victory. The next year he went to the Colombian- Italian team aguardiente Néctar - Selle Italia. Here he won a section at the Vuelta al Táchira and two stages at the Vuelta a Colombia. In 2001 he won a stage at the Clásico RCN and at the Vuelta a Venezuela. He also won the second leg at the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides and so could the Appreciation decide for themselves. This victory, however, was denied him later because of the ingestion of cocaine. The following year he won again a stage of the Vuelta a Colombia.

2004 was the most successful year for Pérez. He won stages in a total of seven stages at the Vuelta al Tolima, at the Vuelta a Antioquia, the Doble Copacabana Grand Prix Fides and at the Vuelta a Costa Rica. In 2005, Pérez won a section at the Clasica del Meta, and in 2006 he was successful in a stage of the Vuelta al Valle del Cauca. In the 2007 season he won a stage at the Vuelta a la Independencia Nacional, and so could the Appreciation decide for themselves. He also won the fifth stage of the Vuelta a Colombia. On the train he was Pan champion in the team pursuit. The next year he won a stage at the Vuelta al Tolima and two pieces at the International Cycling Classic in the United States. 2010 was followed by stage victories at the Doble Sucre Potosi Gran Premio and again the Colombia tour.
