Jairzinho

Jairzinho ( born December 25, 1944 in Rio de Janeiro), Jair Ventura Filho actually, is a former Brazilian football player and coach.

From 1964 to 1982, the striker played 81 international matches (33 goals), was in 1966, 1970 and 1974 with Brazil in the finals of the football World Cup. 1964 took place in Brazil, the so-called Taça das Naçoes instead, a mini - tournament with Brazil, England, Argentina and Portugal. Jairzinho played his first game for Brazil and scored twice. The World Cup tournament in 1966 was a disappointing one for the Brazilians. The two-time world champion failed in the preliminary round. Jairzinho, who was on the court in every game from start to finish, achieved a goal. The 1970 World Cup in Mexico was the highlight of his football experience: Brazil won all the skills and all finals matches and became sovereign world champion. Jairzinho had met in qualifying three times. He steered the 1970 final at the Azteca stadium in Mexico itself a goal to Brazil's world champion title at. Jairzinho repeated at this World Cup performance of Just Fontaine ( 1958 World Cup ) and scored in every game of the World Cup at least one goal. In 1972, the Taça Independencia was held in Brazil, a tournament with 18 teams and 2 continental representatives. Brazil won the tournament and Jairzinho scored the winner in a 1-0 final win against Portugal. In total, he scored twice in the tournament. At the 1974 World Cup in Germany Brazil was fourth and Jairzinho far in the tournament two hits.

Jairzinho began his active football career in 1957 with Botafogo Rio de Janeiro, where he remained faithful to 1974 (Brazilian runner-up 1972), before he moved to the French first division club Olympique Marseille, with whom he was right away French runners-up. Two years later, the Brazilians went back to his home to Cruzeiro to win with them the Copa Libertadores, the most important South American club cup. He then played for Jorge Wilstermann and FC Cochabamba in Bolivia, before he finally ended his career at FC Portuguesa in Venezuela. He then began a career as coach. During qualifying for the World Cup 2006 he was national coach of the Gabonese national football team.

From World Soccer Magazine Jairzinho was elected in December 1999 among the 100 best soccer players of the 20th century to 27th place.

Soccer World Cup 2006 in Germany Jairzinho a comeback as a singer of the musical group Legendarios do Brasil, who accompanied their team prior to its withdrawal.
