The Poptí language ( Popti '), Jakaltekisch ( Jacalteco ) or Abxubal is a Mayan language, which is spoken by about 100,000 indigenous ethnic group of Poptí in Guatemala and Mexico.

Classification

Poptí belongs together with the languages ​​Kanjobal, Chuj, Acateco and Tojolabal to Q'anjob'al - language tribe of Mayan languages. It is divided into a western and an eastern variant, designated by SIL International as the two languages.

Dissemination

Poptí is mainly spoken in the municipios Jacaltenango and Concepción in the Guatemalan department of Huehuetenango Huista and in adjacent areas of the Mexican state of Chiapas.
