JAKO

The JAKO AG, headquartered in Hollenbach, in the municipality of Mulfingen in Hohenlohe district, in Baden -Württemberg, is a manufacturer of team sports apparel in Germany. Named the company is capable of JAKO founding local Stachenhausen between the rivers Jagst and Kocher.

History

The company JAKO was founded on November 1, 1989 in Stachenhausen by Rudi Sprügel. In the early years, the company supplied the national teams of small, regional football clubs with sportswear.

When the large sporting goods manufacturer Adidas, Puma and Nike concentrated since the early 1990s in the German Bundesliga on a few teams, the company supplied also teams of the 2nd Bundesliga. 1999 contributed with SC Freiburg, the first club in the Bundesliga JAKO jerseys. Meanwhile equips JAKO also basketball league and ice hockey teams.

The products are also in Austria, Switzerland ( since 1996), the Benelux countries, France, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia sold (since 2004 ) (since 1998) and the USA. 2006 JAKO Asia was established.

In 2011, the company had a turnover of around € 68.5 million. Jako currently employs approximately 160 employees.

Criticism

Media presence

In autumn 2009, Jako attracted media attention. Jako had warned a blogger who made ​​disparaging remarks about a new logo. Subsequently Jako demanded the payment of a penalty, after the offending text was reproduced from a news aggregator. After public criticism, mainly in online media and the blogosphere Jako renounced financial claims against the blogger.

Pollutants

Stiftung Warentest examined on 6 November 2009 Football Fantrikots, including the jerseys of the equipped JAKO, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. Stiftung Warentest has expanded sponsors printed on the red and black home jersey of season 2009/2010 plasticizers for textiles admissible, for toys but banned in the EU, objected. Due to this high pollution the jerseys with cut "poor" and were therefore taken from Eintracht Frankfurt in the short term from the sale.
