Jakob Becker

Jakob Becker ( born March 15, 1810 in Dittelsheim at Worms, † 22 December 1872 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German painter, etcher and lithographer.

Life

A first training received at Becker no longer known today painter Franz Nikolaus Jung in Worms. With 17 years Becker began in the bird 's Art Institute in Frankfurt as a lithographer. Here he created his first major work, an accurate representation of the Rhine panorama from Mainz to Cologne. Artistic development

Jakob Becker married in 1838 in Dusseldorf his wife, Wally, nee Müller, King of Winter, the daughter of Johann Georg Müller and sister of the physician Wolfgang Müller of King Winter. His daughter Maria Georgina Arnoldine (1840-1912) married in 1861 the founder of the Hoechst AG, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Meister, his younger daughter Maximiliane Eduardo Becker ( 1842-1922 ) married in 1860 Eugen Lucius, who is also one of the founders of Hoechst AG.
