Jakob Buchli

Jakob Buchli ( born March 4, 1876 in Chur, † April 1, 1945 Winterthur) was a Swiss engineer in the field of locomotive design.

After his engineering training he was from 1902 to 1910 worked for the SLM in Winterthur, which since 1907 as head of the design office. He then moved to the BBC to Baden, where he was responsible as chief engineer for electric traction until 1924. From 1924 to 1930 he was Technical Director of the Department Lokomotivbau the SLM.

Major structures of him are the named after him Buchli drive (1918 ), used among others in the SBB Ae 4/7, the Java frame, the universal drive Winterthur, the SLM - high-pressure engine and the duplex bogie for express coaches.
