Jakob Christoph Blarer von Wartensee

Jakob Christoph Blarer ( Blaurer ) of Wartensee ( born May 11, 1542 over Rosenberg Castle in the town of Berneck, † April 18, 1608 in Pruntrut ) was prince-bishop in the diocese of Basel.

Son of the Wolf Dietrich (aka William ) Blarer and Helen of Hallwil. Theological Studies in Freiburg im Breisgau.

After he had received episcopal ordination on 10 February 1577 he sat with the help of the Capuchins and the Jesuits, the reforms of the Council of Trent to, rekatholisierte parts of his dominions (especially the German -speaking Birstal thanks to the Baden Treaty of 1585 ) and introduced in 1581 a diocesan synod through. He went to visitation in all its subordinate parishes and introduced a revised missals, rituals, books, Breviere and martyrologies.
