Jakob-Kaiser-Platz (Berlin U-Bahn)

The underground station Jakob -Kaiser-Platz is a Berlin U -Bahn station U7. It lies north of the eponymous lot below the federal highway 111 in the district of Charlottenburg-Nord district of Charlottenburg- Wilmersdorf and carries the BVG abbreviation JK. It is located 508 meters east of the metro station and 880 meters west Halemweg the subway station Jungfernheide and has special significance as a transfer point for the buses to and from Tegel Airport.

It is named after the German politician Jakob Kaiser (CDU ), resistance fighter and the first Federal Minister for All-German Affairs.

History and Structure

The originally planned under the name Charlottenburg North Station was built in 1967 as constructed provisions in the construction of the overlying motorway A 111 and has been used to accommodate the underground operation as a pedestrian tunnel to cross the motorway. The actual construction of the underground route between Richard -Wagner-Platz and Rohrdamm did not begin until 1973. Together with the other stations of this phase of construction of guided now by the name of Jakob -Kaiser- Platz Underground Station on 1 October 1980 was put into operation.

In 2013, a renovation of the station was planned. By 2016, the station should be accessible rebuilt and installed two lifts.
