Jakob Meisenheimer

Jacob Meisenheimer ( born June 14 1876 in Griesheim am Main; † 2 December 1934 in Berlin) was a German chemist.

He received his doctorate in Munich and was then a professor at the University of Greifswald from 1918 to 1923. However, since about 1909 he lived in Berlin- Dahlem, where he had built a residential villa by architect Heinrich Schweitzer.

Meisenheimer explained to the mechanism of the Beckmann rearrangement together with Helmut Meis. Named after him are the Meisenheimer rearrangement and the Meisenheimer complexes that he isolated for the first time.
