Jakub Kindl

Jakub Kindl ( born February 10, 1987 in Šumperk, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey defender, who plays for the Detroit Red Wings since 2010.

Career

Jakub Kindl began his career at the 2001 Under-18 Junior of HC Pardubice and soon played in the team of the higher age group U20. For three years he spent in the two junior teams and also came up with 16 years to his debut in the senior squad in the Extraliga, but it stayed in the one game in the seniors.

In 2004 he moved to North America with 17 years in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL where he played for the Kitchener Rangers. He established himself equal with a solid debut season in the squad of Rangers, who entered the playoffs to the finals of the Western Conference, but there the London Knights documents. Kindl was then selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 at position 19.

In the season 2005 /06, Kindl increased significantly and was one of the leading players in the Rangers. He developed into one of the best defenders in the league and scored twelve goals and 46 assists in 60 league games. However, his team failed in the playoffs already in the first round. Kindl was shortly after leaving the squad of the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, called and should make his debut in the seniors there. In his first three games, he was able to prepare a goal.

But for the season 2006 /07 he returned to the OHL, where he was able to continue the good performances of the pre-season and in 54 games scored 55 points. Even in the playoffs, he was one of the best players in the Rangers, but they do not get beyond the second round. Kindl was then brought again for the AHL playoffs in the cadre of Griffins and stood at each of the seven first-round matches on the ice. However, the series was lost with 3:4.

For the 2007 /08 season had Kindl a permanent place in the squad of the Grand Rapids Griffins and had 13 points in the first 42 games a solid start, but faltered in the second Saisonhälft when he came only four assists. In addition, he had the worst plus / minus value of the entire AHL. The following year he was initially greatly improved and he managed to leap into the top defenders in the league. Defensive he showed much more stable and could surpass his points yield the preseason already in the 30th Season. The fans voted him then in the starting lineup of the PlanetUSA All-Star team for the AHL All-Star Game. But, as in his debut season, he was unable to continue his good form in the second half of the season. Was it before the All -Star Game still a reliable factor in the power play of the Griffins, he came afterwards in the next 17 games to just three assists.
