Jakub Polak (musician)

Jakub Polak ( Jacques le Polonais, Jacques le polonois, Jakub Reys; * 1545 in Augustów, † 1605 in Paris) was a Polish composer and lutenist.

About life Polak in Poland is not known. He left soon after the accession of Sigismund III. Wasa the country and went to Paris. There he was appointed in 1588 to Joueur de luth de Roi. For 1593 his residence is occupied as a teacher and lutenist in Tours. He composed preludes, fantasies, courantes, Galla gestures, Voltas, a ballet, a serenade and song arrangements for the lute.
