Jalgaon ( Marathi: जळगाव, Jaḷgāv ) is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra with around 460,000 inhabitants ( 2001 census). It is the administrative seat of the district of Jalgaon, situated approximately 400 kilometers northeast of Mumbai and 250 km west of Nagpur on the river Tapti and the northern edge of the Deccan Plateau.
