Jalozai

Jalozai ( alternative spellings: Jailozai, Jallozai ) is a town about 30 km south-east of Peshawar in District Nowshera in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

There was a refugee camp in the 1980s because of the Soviet- Afghan war, built initially by the UNHCR, then increasingly by various resistance organizations with financial support from Arab countries. In the late 1990s, it was reopened because of Taliban rule and the drought in Afghanistan.

The UNHCR relocated 2001, many refugees to Shamshatoo and wanted to close on 12 February 2002 Jalozai refugee camp. In 2005, in Jalozai 119 964 Afghans in 24,201 families and the end of 2007 more than 100,000. The final closing shifts to the spring of 2008.
