Jam Master Jay

Jam Master Jay ( born January 21, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York as Jason William Mizell, † October 30, 2002 in Queens, New York) was an American DJ and founder of the hip- hop group Run-DMC

Career

Mizell was born in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of ten he moved with his family to Queens. The late Run-DMC DJ played in various groups bass and drums. In 1983, Jay, DJ Run and DMC, the group Run-DMC. That same year, the band signed a contract with the label profiles Records.

Jam Master Jay later founded the Scratch DJ Academy in Manhattan. There, children could learn the DJing. In 1989, Jay the label Jam Master Jay Records, which became successful by the hip- hop group Onyx.

Mizell died on 30 October 2002 in an assassination attempt. He was at this time in a recording studio in Queens, New York. Urieco Rincon, who was also present at the studio, was injured by a bullet in the leg. Jay, who was hit by the bullet in the head, survived by his wife Terri and three children. Mizell was buried at the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York.
