Jamaal Wilkes

Jamaal Abdul- Lateef Wilkes ( born 2 May 1953 in Berkeley, California ) is a former American professional basketball player.

Born as Jackson Keith Wilkes in 1975 he changed his name for religious reasons.

On the position of the Small Forwards Wilkes played from 1971 to 1974 successful college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. In the years 1972 and 1973 the team undefeated NCAA Championship could win. Overall, could be won in a row under coach John Wooden 88 games. 1973 and 1974 Wilkes was elected to the NCAA All-American First Team. He then signed up for the NBA Draft in 1974. With him, the Lakers were in 1980, winning the 1982 and 1985 titles, where he missed the second half of the season and the playoffs due to a torn ligament in his left knee during the last song. Wilkes was elected to the 1981 and 1983 All-Star team. With an average of 22.6 points, the season was 1980/81 his best in this regard. In the following years, his values ​​were continuously worse.
