Jameh Mosque of Borujerd

The Friday Mosque of Borudscherd (Persian مسجد جامع بروجرد - Masjid -e- Jameh Borujerd ) is the large congregation mosque in the Iranian city of Borudscherd in Lorestan province. It is the oldest mosque in the area of the Zagros and Western Iran. It is ranked # 228 in the National Inventory of artifacts of Iran.

History

The mosque was built on a site at the time of the Sassanid Empire was a Zoroastrian fire temple at the. The construction of the mosque is attributed to a minister named Hamuyeh or Hamuleh, said to have been appointed in the 9th century governor of Borudscherd.
