James A. Anderson

James A. Anderson ( born July 31, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American professor of Cognitive Science and Linguistics at Brown University. His area of ​​research is the application of neural networks in cognitive science.

James Anderson first studied biology and later physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where in 1967 his Ph.D. received for a work on the nervous system of Aplysia. After living at the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1967 to 1971 and at The Rockefeller University from 1971 to 1973, he has since worked at Brown University.

A result of Anderson's research is the so-called BSB model, the acronym stands for " Brain State in a Box".
