James Cutler Dunn Parker
Parker completed a law degree at Harvard University. In 1851 he went to Leipzig, where he studied piano with Ignaz Moscheles and Louis Plaidy and composition with Julius Rietz and Ernst Friedrich Richter. From 1864 to 1897 he was organist at the Trinity Church in Boston, from 1871 to 1897 he taught at the conservatory and at times at the University of piano, organ and harmony.
He composed hymns, cantatas, oratorios, church music and piano works. He has also written two works for teaching and translated Ernst Friedrich Richter harmony into English.
