James Dornan

James Dornan ( born March 17, 1953) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Dornan attended the St Mirin 's Primary School and the Holyrood Secondary School in Glasgow. For the first time Dornan stepped on to national elections for the lower house elections in 2005. He ran for the SNP in the constituency of Glasgow South West, but was behind the Labour politician Ian Davidson win only the second highest number of votes and thus failed to reach the House of Commons. In 2007 he was elected to the city council of Glasgow. In the same year he was a candidate for the Scottish Parliament elections in the constituency of Glasgow Cathcart, whose direct mandate, however, was won by the Labour candidate Charles Gordon. In the 2011 parliamentary elections Dornan finally won the direct mandate of Glasgow Cathcart by a margin of about 1,600 votes ahead of Gordon and moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament.
