James Farrington

James Farrington ( born October 1, 1791 in Conway, Carroll County, New Hampshire, † October 29, 1859 in Rochester, New Hampshire ) was an American politician. Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the State of New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Farrington attended the public schools of his native land and from then until 1814, the Fryeburg Academy in Maine. After studying medicine and his medical license, he began to practice in his new profession from 1818 in Rochester.

Farrington was a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1828 and 1831 he was a member of the House of Representatives from New Hampshire. In 1836 he was a member of the State Senate. In the congressional elections of 1836, which were held all across the state, he was for the second parliamentary seat from New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1837 the successor of Robert Burns. But until March 3, 1839, he graduated only one term in Congress.

After his time in the House of Representatives Farrington again worked as a doctor. In 1845 he was curator of the mental hospital of New Hampshire. Farrington was also involved in the founding of the Rochester Bank, whose president he was to remain until his death in 1859.
