James Franklin Jeffrey

James Franklin Jeffrey ( born 1946 ) is an American diplomat. He was last August 2010 to June 2012 Ambassador of the United States in Iraq.

From 1969 to 1976 he was an officer of infantry in the U.S. Army. Then he went to the United States Foreign Service; 2002 to 2004, he served as Ambassador to Albania. In August 2007 he was appointed advisor to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor. As a result, he had held from 2008 to 2010 as the successor to Ross Wilson the ambassador to Turkey before moving into Iraq. Here he assumed the office of Christopher R. Hill.
