James Galway

Sir James Galway OBE ( born December 8, 1939 in Belfast, Northern Ireland ) is considered one of the greatest classical flautists in the late 20th and early 21st century. Hailing from Belfast, it is called with the golden flute often the man.

Life

The age of twelve Galway won the first musical prices. After a short time as a piano tuner allowed him a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music. Further study at the London Guildhall School and the Paris Conservatoire followed; privately he took lessons with Marcel Moyse in Marlboro (Vermont ). James Galway's flute is determined by the so-called "German approach ", which has a higher amount of noise in contrast to the French approach.
