James Glenn Beall

James Glenn Beall ( born June 5, 1894 in Frostburg, Allegany County, Maryland, † January 14, 1971 ibid ) was an American politician of the Republican Party. He represented the state of Maryland in both chambers of Congress.

Beall first attended the public schools in Maryland, later the Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Between 1918 and 1919 he served in the United States Army. After he had retired with the rank of Sergeant from the service, he worked in the insurance and real estate industries.

In 1923, James Beall his first public office as a member of the building committee Street in Allegany County. He resigned in 1930, after he was elected to the Senate of Maryland; this he was a member until 1934. After that, he was 1938-1939 first as a member and later chairman of the state road building committee (State Road Commission ).

As of January 3, 1943 Beall sat as representative of the sixth congressional district of Maryland in the House of Representatives of the United States. After multiple re-election, he remained there until 1953 before moving to the Senate within the Congress. There, too, he succeeded in 1958, initially for the re-election before he failed in his third term in 1964 at the Democrats Joseph Tydings.

Bealls political career was finished. He returned to Frostburg and was subsequently again in the insurance business. His son John was from 1971 to 1977 also U.S. Senator for Maryland.
