James Greene Hardy

James Greene Hardy ( * May 3, 1795 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; † July 16, 1856 in Frankfort, Kentucky ) was an American politician. In the years 1855 and 1856 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

James Hardy came to Rock Spring in present-day Kentucky, where he worked previously as his father was a teacher and surveyor. After that, he was also active in the trade. Later, he embarked on a political career. In the years 1827-1830, 1838-1839, 1844-1845 and 1847, and in 1855 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Kentucky. He was a member of the American Party.

In 1855 he was elected to the side of Charles S. Morehead for lieutenant governor of his state. This office he held until his death on 16 July 1856. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. He was married three times and had a total of twelve children.
