James H. McClellan

James H. McClellan ( born October 5, 1947 in Guam, nichtinkorporiertes territory of the U.S. ) is an American electrical engineer and Professor of Signal Theory at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He served, among other contributions in the field of digital signal processing, particularly in the area of digital filters and their design methods. In 2004 he was awarded jointly to Thomas W. Parks for the development of the Parks-McClellan algorithm, the IEEE Jack S. Kilby Signal Processing Medal.

Life

McClellan graduated in electrical engineering in 1969 with the Bachelor of the Louisiana State University, 1972 Master of Science degree and a doctorate in 1973 at Rice University. From 1973 to 1975 he worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, 1965, he was on the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) professor of electrical engineering, followed by various activities in the industry. Since 1987 he is professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
