James Haggarty

James Haggarty ( born April 14, 1914 in Port Arthur, Ontario, † March 8, 1998 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who has played, among others, for the Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League.

Career

James Haggarty began his career as a hockey player in his hometown, where he was active for the Port Arthur Port or Port Arthur Bearcats 1932-1935. From 1935 to 1939 he played in the UK for the Wembley Canadians and Wembley Monarchs, where he in 1936 as a guest player to his former team, the Bearcats returned, with whom he represented Canada at the Olympic Winter Games. From 1939 to 1942 he ran for the Montreal Royals, where he finished the season 1941/42, when the Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League. In eight NHL games for the Canadiens he scored three goals and two assists. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and played from 1942 to 1945 for various military teams. Most recently, he was from 1945 to 1950 for the Montreal Royals and Valleyfield Braves on the ice.

Internationally

For Canada Haggarty took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, where he won the silver medal with his team.
