James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton

James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton ( * 1415, † November 6, 1479 ) was a Scottish nobleman.

Life

He was the son of Sir James Hamilton, 5th Baron of Cadzow and his wife Janet Livingston. Kinship connected with the family Douglas, he followed those in their battles against the Scottish crown, but left them in the lurch and 1454 could be recovered from the assets securing significant territorial gains.
