James Hillier

James Hillier ( born August 22, 1915 in Brantford, Ontario, † January 15, 2007 in Princeton ( New Jersey)) was a Canadian scientist and inventor, the April 19 1938 ( according to Ernst Ruska ) together with Albert F. Prebus (* 1913 in Edmonton, Alberta and later Professor of optical Physics at Ohio State University, † December 16, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio) under the direction of Eli Franklin Burton, the first practical electron microscope in North America built.

By 1941, he studied at the University of Toronto and then by Vladimir Zworykin at RCA in Camden (New Jersey) committed, where he worked until 1977. In 1993 he founded the James Hillier Foundation. In 1960 he was awarded the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research in 1997 with the Order of Canada.

His son Bill Hillier produced in the 1980s television show Jumble.
