James Hong

James Hong (吴汉 章, pinyin: Wu Han-zhang, born February 22, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota ) is an American actor, film producer, film director and screenwriter.

Life

James Hong grew up to the age of 10 in Hong Kong, before returning to the United States. He studied civil engineering at the University of Minnesota, and graduated from the University of Southern California, where he first took acting classes.

After working one and a half years as a civil engineer in Los Angeles County, he began both in Los Angeles but also perform in nightclubs in Hawaii. A caused by the stressful job illness ended Hong's career in the construction and opened it a case of film and television.

He is since 1955 in front of the camera and was able to give in over 300 films and TV shows his acting talent for the best. He is still regarded as one of the most prolific Asian-American actor. 1966 Hong was a candidate for the role of Lt.. Hikaru Sulu for the TV series Star Trek; However, he had to leave George Takei the part.

1979 Hong debuted as a director and producer at Independent Film Teen Lust; two more films - The Vineyard (1989) and Singapore Sling (2001) - followed.

1982 Hong played the role of Hannibal Chew in the cult film Blade Runner by Ridley Scott.

About his private life we know only that he is the father of a daughter and that April Hong as her father has been working as an actress.
