James Hook (* June 27, 1985 in Port Talbot ) is a Welsh rugby player who plays on the position of the connecting Halbs. He plays for USA Perpignan and the Welsh national team.

Hook was born in Port Talbot, south Wales. His career began at Neath RFC, the oldest rugby club in the country. In 2004 he moved to the Ospreys, where he stood for the first time in the 2006/07 season in the starting lineup. His international debut was in 2006 in Hook match against Argentina, where he also scored his first attempt. This was followed by a strong performance against Australia at the 29:29 draw and Pacific Islanders. During the Six Nations 2007 Hook participated in all the games part of his team, but mostly on the unfamiliar position for him of the inner three- quarter. Only at the final match against England, he was employed as a compound semiconductor and made with his 22 points for the victory of the Welsh. He was then appointed as "Man of the Match". This power he could repeat in the Six Nations in 2008, when he led his team to win away in England and at the end of the tournament was able to achieve the Grand Slam.

In 2009, he was inducted into the ranks of the British and Irish Lions, after Leigh Halfpenny failed due to an injury for the start of the tour.
