James M. Richardson

James Montgomery Richardson ( born July 1, 1858 in Mobile, Alabama; † February 9, 1925 in Glasgow, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1907 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Already in his early youth, James Richardson came to Glasgow in Kentucky, where he grew up with his uncle. There he attended the public schools. In 1878, Richardson was publisher of the newspaper " Glasgow Times ". At the same time he became politically active as a member of the Democratic Party. In 1896 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, was first nominated on the William Jennings Bryan as their presidential candidate. In the same year Richardson was elected to the House of Representatives from Kentucky. Between 1900 and 1905 he was a prison officer.

In the congressional elections of 1904 Richardson was in the third electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Stockdale Rhea on March 4, 1905. As he said Republicans Addison James defeated in the following election in 1906, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1907. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives sat James Richardson his work in the newspaper business continued. Between 1913 and 1922 he was postmaster in Glasgow. In this city he died on 9 February 1925.
