James M. Stevens

James M. Stevens ( born January 30, 1873 Oneida County, Idaho; † August 22, 1937 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American politician. Between 1903 and 1905 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Idaho.

Career

James Stevens was raised on his father's farm and attended the common schools. After a subsequent law degree at Stanford University in California and his admission to the bar he began at the firm Detrich, Chalmers & Stevens to work in Boise in this profession. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. In 1902 he was elected to the side of John T. Morrison for Lieutenant Governor of Idaho. This post he held from January 5, 1903 to January 2, 1905. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate.

After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor James Stevens practiced as a lawyer again. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he was one of the legal representative ( Assistant City Attorney ) this city. There he is deceased after a brief illness on August 22, 1937.
