James McDevitt Magee

James McDevitt Magee (* April 5, 1877 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, † April 16, 1949 ) was an American politician. Between 1923 and 1927 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Magee attended the common schools and then studied until 1899 at Yale University. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his 1903 was admitted to the bar he began to work in Pittsburgh in this profession. During the First World War he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He rose to become captain. Later he was a Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army Air Service. Politically, he joined the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1922, Magee was in the newly refurbished 35th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he took his seat on March 4, 1923. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1927 two legislative sessions. In 1926, he was not nominated by his party for re-election. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Magee again practiced as a lawyer. Between 1931 and 1935 he headed the security committee of his state (Pennsylvania Securities Commission ). He died on April 16, 1949 in Pittsburgh, where he was also buried.
